Perma-Tune - Defining Performance Upgrades in Classic Sports Cars

Led by Lonnie Lenarduzzi, a former U.S. Department of Energy contract engineer, Perma-Tune is an electronics manufacturing firm focused on delivering better performance in vintage sports cars. Manufactured in the USA, the Perma-Tune lineup of products spans distributors, coils, and basic and software-equipped premium ignition modules. Perma-Tune offerings respect the aesthetics of classic street cars such as the Porsche 911, with replica versions of components available as well.

Perma-Tune’s legacy extends to an unbranded performance ignition upgrade first developed by inventor Theodore Sturm for street car drivers. Introduced in 1969, it effectively decreased electrical system wear and tear experienced by breaker points during ignition. In 1972, a collaboration with Ferdinand Porsche resulted in the development of the classic Perma-Tune Gen 2 module, which was engineered for the six cylinder 911 car and installed in the Porsche factory in Germany.

Current Perma-Tune Gen 5 offerings include the SC010 Ignition Coil, a period-correct oil filled coil with improved internal design in areas such as heat, leakage, and vibration resistance. Through a complementary assembly, this ignition coil can be relocated to a position next to the Perma-Tune module, which contains advanced electronics. The 90506 Perma-Tune Bluetooth Smart Wire additionally allows multiple cars to be tracked and monitored by a single mechanic, and kept fine-tuned at peak performance.
